Fitness for Duty Evaluations (FFDE)

A Fitness for Duty Evaluation (FFDE) helps determine if an employee is physically, emotionally, and/or mentally able to safely perform their job duties. These evaluations are tailored to the specific role and workplace context—not just general health.

Common Triggers for FFDEs:

  • Safety concerns or workplace incidents
  • Noticeable performance or behavior changes
  • Return from extended medical leave
  • Job accommodation requests
  • Legal or regulatory compliance

Spectrum Medical Evaluators offers job-specific FFDEs conducted by experienced physicians, fully compliant with state and federal guidelines.

Who Qualifies for SIBTF?

You may be eligible if:

  • You had a pre-existing permanent partial disability.
  • You sustained a new work-related injury that caused additional permanent disability.
  • The combined disabilities equal 70% or more of total permanent disability.

Additional conditions include:

  • The previous and new disabilities affect opposite limbs (e.g., right leg and left leg) and the new injury rates at least 5%, or
