Independent Medical Evaluations (IME)
An Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) is an objective medical assessment performed by a physician not involved in the patient’s treatment. IMEs are often requested in cases involving:
- Workers’ compensation
- Personal injury
- Disability claims
- Insurance disputes
The physician provides an unbiased report that helps determine diagnosis, causation, and level of impairment.
At Spectrum Medical Evaluators, we support a wide network of expert medical evaluators trained in legal reporting and expert testimony. Our team delivers clear, evidence-based evaluations for legal and insurance purposes.

Who Qualifies for SIBTF?
You may be eligible if:
- You had a pre-existing permanent partial disability.
- You sustained a new work-related injury that caused additional permanent disability.
- The combined disabilities equal 70% or more of total permanent disability.
Additional conditions include:
- The previous and new disabilities affect opposite limbs (e.g., right leg and left leg) and the new injury rates at least 5%, or
- The new injury alone rates at least 35% permanent disability.
SIBTF benefits are paid in addition to workers’ compensation for the subsequent injury alone.
